I found out that the amount of text shown on the main page of a blog can be fairly easily set, There is a button for it that looks like a long hyphen, way over to the right on the row (it slides).
Just testing. Seems much easier to make a post this way. Very lively and responsive. Doesn't appear to have the HTML or a lot of formatting options but for an ordinary post it should be okay.
